AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! So much to cover in (what I'm sure will not be) one little post. But don't worry, I'll build the excitement so as to keep you "entertained'...
Well, I've officially been to the lecture portion of all of my classes thus far.
My State and Society class (history credit) will by far be my hardest class. The lecture is on Mondays, I know no one in it, my professor (tutour) is from Ireland and has a really thick accent which I can barely understand, and he began by talking about the French Revolution which I didn't even really know existed (I know I make you proud, Dad). Jeesh. Kind of a rough start, right? But oh well, I guess I'll make due. It will force me to meet people, actually focus during class, refrain from zoning out, and likely doing outside research, YUCK!
My Fairy Tale (Counts for my English 200 credit, awesome right??) will by far take the cake on being the most fun class! There are two other Americans in my class, my tutour's name is Helen Fiona Day (like Shrek!), and we will get to watch The Little Mermaid in class! I'm pretty pumped.
My Culture and Identity class (sociology credit)Sso should be pretty interesting. There is another American in my class who is really sweet, but the class does last from 12-5 on FRIDAYS - which blows. A lot. But hopefully I'll manage..
Another first, laundry in another country. I never thought it would be so difficult, but boy was it stressful. It was pouring down rain, which is pretty typical, but I trudged on over. I had my whole pink suitcase (which conviently will double as my laundry bag) full of laundry tht I had to roll over on brick roads that made a TON of obnoxious noise. While I was walking there, a car stopped and asked for directions to some building, I'm guessing on campus, and all I said was "Dude, I'm American" and he was off. I guess that wasn't the answer he was looking for..
By the time I got to the laundry hut I was soaking wet, my swipe wouldn't work on what I thought was the swiper thing and my key wouldn't let me in the door. Finally after about 5 minutes of trying to pull on the door, I called a fellow American who did laundry earlier in the day. I had to push the door open. Yep. That's my life.
Apparently the dryers shrink your clothes, so for £4 ($6) I washed two loads of laundry. And apparently people don't sit on the nasty floorin the laundry hut to do homework while their laundry is washing. That earned me some more confused look on the day. Eventually though, I got back and hung my laundry up all over my room. By this morning, two full days later, it was finally all dry.
This weekend I finally got to experience "going out" with my flat. We had a ton of fun at Lava Ignite, which is a dance club about 10 minutes away. Basically, everyone gets really dressed up and we just go and dance the night away. It was a ton of fun and I felt like I really got to know the girls!

These are the girls in my flat. Hannah is on the left, next to me is Jess, and finally Lucy is on the far right. Believe it or not, I have heels on in this picture..

We decided to whip out the infamous Beetles walk right outside our Accomodation on the way to the taxi.

Well, to put it bluntly, I survived my first drive on the wrong side of the road in the wrong side of the car. No, I was not driving here. It's crazy the way people drive around those roundabouts..
Before we get to the good stuff, I thought I would share some new vocabulary to keep you (and me) up to date on the latest words and phrases of "English English" ...
Twisties/Hair Ties/Pony Tail Holders - Bobbles (potentially the weirdest thing that I've ever heard. Ever.)

French Braids - Braids

And now to make all of you "Football" fans out there, I will be going to a Manchester United football game on Tuesday! They're playing Stoke, so if you can, look for me on TV! Ahh! I'm super pumped!
Hopefully y'all are doing well. I'm really starting to get settled in here and feeling really comfortable. Classes really begin this week (with content other than just going over the syllabus) so I'm sure I'll be extra busy. Overall, I'm just really happy here. I'm literally living the dream and like the sign on my mirror says, as long as I just remember to breathe, I'll get along just fine.
